Before you start to use AQAMAI products

Check the integrity of all components of the product, always disconnect all electrical appliances in the aquarium and verify that the voltage and frequency of the product correspond to the ones of your network.

What precautions should I consider?

Before any installation, maintenance or before putting your hands into the aquarium, always turn off all electrical appliances immersed in water. Read the manual instructions.

What is the intended use of the product?

The KPs pump is designed for aquarium use (indoor).
The water temperature must not exceed 35° C (95° F)

Which glass thicknesses can sustain the Aqamai KPs magnetic support ?

The glass thickness must not exceed 15 mm (0.6 in)

Is the WiFi controller waterproof?

The controller is not waterproof!
The WiFi controller has IPX2 degree of protection and should not be immersed in water. If the controller falls into the water do not take it out immediately! First remove the plug and then retrieve it.
If the electrical components of the controller are wet, disconnect it immediately.

What is the length of the KPs cable?

Total length of the cable is 3,5 m (11.5 ft).
From the plug to the WiFi controller the length is 1,5 m (5 ft).
From the WiFi controller to the KPs pump the length is 2 m (6.5 ft).

Should the magnets be handled with care?

Absolutely yes.
The high magnetic traction of the two parts of the support could pinch your fingers.
The magnets could also attract blades, pointed objects or other magnets, causing potential accidental injuries.
Magnets can also cause permanent damage to electronic devices (es LCD screens) and other objects sensitive to magnetic fields such as cardiac pacemakers, credit cards and keys.
Always keep a distance of at least 30 cm (12 in)and keep the magnets out of the reach of children.

What are the required maintenance for the Aqamai KPs pump?

It is required that the motor and the rotor are cleaned. Furthermore, it is necessary to remove the limestone which can form in the upper and lower chamber grids of the pump.
The formation of limestone in reef aquariums is an absolutely normal event.

I’m sorry to remove the limestone algae from the pump…

Although aesthetically pleasing, the limestone algae formations on the pumps reduce performance and can cause malfunctions.

What product should I use for “decalcification”?

Never use chemical products made specifically for cleaning the oven, kitchen or washing machine!
Use only vinegar, lemon juice or alternatively, when paying close attention, muriatic acid.

My Aqamai KPs is perfectly clean and it runs regularly, but it produces vibrations and noise. What can I do?

First, check if the front pump chamber is securely fastened and in the right position.
If vibrations and noise persist:
– clean the pump thoroughly;
– check the rotor condition and ensure it is not cracked or chipped.
Furthermore, on the bottom of the rotor chamber there is a washer, this prevents the rotor from making unpleasant noises when the pump is working. Check it regularly to ensure it is not damaged.

How do I schedule the maintenance ?

Following are the indications of when maintenance should be scheduled the periodicity of the interventions:
Once a month clean rotor and rotor chamber.
Once every three months clean upper chamber grids and lower chamber grids.

Is it true that some marine species can ruin the electric cable?

Yes, sea urchin, triggerfish, and other fishes with strong jaws could ruin or consume electric wires.
For this reason, Aqamai has applied the Cable Protector to this product.

How do I check if my KPs is following the program I set?

From the “Settings” menu in the Aqamai app, identify the relevant products and check that the button at the bottom right, next to the program name, is green.

I have a KPs but I am not able to connect it to my smartphone/tablet

– iOS
First, make sure you have installed the most recent version of the Aqamai app.
Make sure you that your Wi-Fi network is enabled, then check that the Aqamai device is connected to your tablet/smartphone.
If the problem persists, reset the pump and repeat the connection setup procedure.
– ANDROID
First, make sure you have installed the most recent version of the Aqamai app.
Make sure you that your Wi-Fi network is enabled, mobile networks deactivated, gps localization active and check that the Aqamai device is connected to your tablet/smartphone.
Remember to deactivate the mobile networks during connection setup and use of all other Aqamai devices.
Once the connection setup procedure is completed you can reactivate them.
If the problem persists, reset the pump and repeat the connection setup procedure.

My device is connected to the Aqamai App but I still cannot control it

How do I check if my device is updated to the most recent firmware version?

Go to the main menu of the Aqamai app and press “Upgrading devices”. here you will see a list of the devices you have paired. If you press “INFO” you can view all pump information, including the current firmware and the available one.
If the Aqamai device requires a firmware update, in the “ Upgrading devices ” menu the button on the right will be yellow and the words “UPDATE REQUIRED” will appear.

How can I update the KPs firmware?

Unpair the Aqamai device from the App: from the main menu, press “MANAGE” and select the device you wish to unpair. Press the gear icon symbol for the settings of the specific device and press “UNPAIR DEVICE”.
Press and hold the controller push button for 10 seconds.
Now re-pair the device to the application, as you would for a new product.
Go to the “DEVICES UPDATE” menu, press “UPDATE REQUIRED” and follow the instructions provided by the App.
Remember that you will need to re-send the program to your device after the update.

I can’t update the KPs firmware.

– iOS

How do I disconnect the device from my household WiFi?

Unpair the Aqamai device from the app: from the main menu, press “MANAGE” and select the device you wish to unpair from the list. Press the gear icon symbol for the settings of that device and press “UNPAIR DEVICE”.
Press and hold the controller push button for 10 seconds.
Re-pair the device to the application, as you would for a new product.
Remember that while the device is paired with a household network, you will be able to operate it only with the Aqamai account you have paired it with.

How can I save my settings and personal data?

Once you have created the custom programs, go to “Sync” from the main menu and press “SYNCHRONIZE”.
For synchronization to be successful, your phone must have an internet connection.
This way all your data, programs and paired devices will be saved on Aqamai servers.
If you exit from the app, update the app or change phones you will need to log in with the same username and synchronize the app again to find all your saved data, programs and devices.

How can I reset my device to the factory settings?

Hold down the controller button, next to the led, for 10 seconds.

How can I pause my pump?

Press and hold the controller button for 2 seconds to stop the pump for 10 minutes.
Press again the button to start the pump manually.

The controller LED is blinking white, what does it mean?

Demo Mode active! Press and hold the controller button for 2 seconds to stop the pump for 10 minutes.
Press again the button to start the pump manually.
After 10 minutes from the last command, the pump will return to it’s daily schedule.

The controller LED is blinking blue, what does it mean?

Network issues! The controller can’t connect to the home network. Verify that the router is turned on and working. Check the SSID and/or PASSWORD of the home network have not changed.

The controller LED is blinking red, what does it mean?

Check the rotor is not blocked and that the pump is completely immersed into the water.

The controller LED is blinking red/green, what does it mean?

Hardware error! Contact Customer Care.

What do the colors of the LED light on the controller mean?

– Yellow: Constant flow on.
– Flashing orange: wave mode on.
– Purple: smooth mode on.
– Green: random mode on.
– Cyan: feeder mode on.
– Blue: night mode on.
